Veteran point guard Rajon Rondo agreed to a one-year, $2.6 million deal to rejoin the Los Angeles Lakers After clearing waivers Monday, the deal is expected to be finalized Tuesday.

Rondo agreed to a contract buyout with the Memphis Grizzlies over the weekend, but will still earn his full $7.5 million salary this season between the buyout and his pending contract with the Lakers. Rondo, a two-time NBA champion and four-time All-Star selection, played for the Lakers for two seasons from 2018-20.

The 35-year-old Rondo averaged 5.4 points and 4.4 assists over 45 games for the Atlanta Hawks and Clippers last season.
