Yesterday the Connecticut House voted on legislation that would outlaw products with high levels of THC from being sold in gas stations and smoke shops. These products would only be allowed to be sold in licensed dispensaries. The legislation is now headed to the Connecticut Senate for approval.
Norwich police say that they are searching for a person of interest in connection to the shooting death of 19 year old Camaury Norman-Clark at the Norwich Apartments Wednesday afternoon. Officers are looking for 19-year-old Stancovitch Fabre who could be driving older red Ford Mustang.
A person was rescued by fire crews in New London yesterday morning after their car struck an embankment. Officials say that the driver was found in the vehicle which needed to be stabilized. The driver was removed and the extent of their injuries was not immediately clear. The cause is being investigated.
The death of an 87-year-old man at an Old Saybrook nursing home has been ruled a homicide. According to a lawsuit filed by his daughter, Edward Flynn was a resident at Apple Rehab Old Saybrook from 2017 until his 2022 death. The medical examiner ruled Flynn’s death a homicide, saying he died from blunt force trauma to the neck.
Earlier this week the Waterford Representative Town meeting approved a $102 million budget for the 2023-24 fiscal year. The approved budget is about $2.7 million more than the current budget. The new tax rate is expected to be determined on May 17 by the Board of Finance.
Rhode Island State Rep. Karen Alzate has submitted a proposal that would require those companies with over 500 employees to pay workers overtime for working more than 32 hours a week. Another bill she’s sponsoring called the “Menstruation Leave Act,” would entitle every menstruating employee a three day monthly leave.
