The Connecticut Senate voted 24-11 early Saturday to pass updated gun laws. The bill, proposed by Governor Ned Lamont would ban the open carry of firearms, and strengthen rules for gun storage and reporting stolen weapons. He is expected to sign the bill into law.
Five people were hospitalized after a car fire in Old Lyme on Saturday. Officers say a head on collision between two vehicles happened on Route 156 and one of the cars went up in flames. Five people between the two cars were brought to Yale-New Haven Hospital. The cause of the crash is unknown.
One person is dead after a vehicle crashed into a utility pole and home early yesterday morning in Norwich. Crews were called to the intersection of East Main Street and Stonington Road. Crews were able to remove the roof of the car to rescue the trapped driver, however the unidentified driver was found with no pulse and was later pronounced dead.
A woman is suing R&B star Trey Songz is being sued for $10 million after claiming he exposed her breast at a pool party at the Foxwoods Resort Casino ten years ago. Atlantic Records and record exec Kevin Liles are reportedly also named in the sexual assault suit that was filed.
The Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth & Families is reporting the death of a seven-month-old infant. DCYF was open to the family at the time of the incident, however they did not have custody of the child at the time of the death. Officials say that the fatality does not appear to be the result of child maltreatment.
A job fair is being held by the Ocean Community Chamber of Commerce and Westerly Education Center next Monday, June 12th from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Westerly Education Center Annex on High Street. There will be openings for full time, part time and seasonal positions.
