
Alcohol will be banned at seven recreation areas in Connecticut this summer in an effort to cut down on trespassing and illegal activity. The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection has re-imposed its alcohol ban effective Friday, June 9th through September 6th at multiple locations throughout the state.
A Windham man was arrested earlier this week after he allegedly asked a juvenile inappropriate questions during driving lessons. 36 year old Theodore Ohanlon is accused of asking the driving student about her virginity and drug use. Ohanlon also allegedly looked up the student’s address on her permit and entered it into a GPS.
Connecticut College officials announced that they have named an interim president. Lwaliw E Wong who is a member of the Connecticut College’s Board of Trustees is the next interim president of the college starting July 1st. Former President Katherien Bergeron recently resigned from the position.
A budget referendum in Preston will be happening next week. In May voters rejected a proposed $14.5 million school budget by 37 votes, however the $4.9 million town government budget was approved. The Board of Finance has since cut $150,000 from the school budget. The referendum will happen next Thursday June 18th at Preston Plains Middle School.
A former Rhode Island priest has pleaded guilty to federal charges after he was accused of downloading hundreds of images and videos of child pornography. Father James Jackson admitted to accessing child pornography while serving as a pastor at St. Mary’s Church in Providence nearly two years ago. He is scheduled to be sentenced in December.
The Rhode Island Judiciary has expunged over 23,000 over the past few months for those who were previously convicted of marijuana possession. The expungements come more than a year after Governor Dan McKee signed The Rhode Island Cannabis Act into law,
