The Toronto Maple Leafs defeated the Florida Panthers with a score of 4-3 in Game 2 of their Eastern Conference Second Round on Wednesday, to take a commanding 2-0 series lead.

Mitch Marner scored the game-winner at 5:50 into the third period; which came just 17 seconds after Panthers forward Anton Lundell had tied the game 3-3. Toronto goalie Joseph Woll, starting for the injured Anthony Stolarz, also earned his first win of this year’s playoffs.

Game 3 is scheduled to take place in Sunrise, Florida on Friday night.

The Dallas Stars beat the Winnipeg Jets 3-2 in Game 1 of their Western Conference Second Round at Canada Life Centre on Wednesday.

The Stars’ Mikko Rantanen scored a natural hat trick in the second period, to become the first player in Stanley Cup Playoffs history with multiple three-goal periods in the same postseason (he had three goals in the third period against the Colorado Avalanche in Game 7). Jake Oettinger made 29 saves for the Stars

The Stars and Jets will meet for Game 2 on Friday at Winnipeg.
