The Houston Texans have placed fifth-year tight end Brevin Jordan on season-ending injured reserve after he hurt his knee during practice on Monday. Last season, the tight end suffered a torn ACL in Week 2 against the Chicago Bears.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter confirmed the news on Tuesday, with the exact nature of Jordan’s knee injury not made immediately clear. Schefter posted on X: “Texans are placing TE Brevin Jordan on season-ending injured reserve due to the knee injury he suffered during Monday’s practice, as @jonmalexander also reported.”

Jordan sustained the injury during an 11-on-11 drill, when he jumped in the air to catch a pass but fell to the ground then grabbed his lower right leg. Per ESPN’s DJ Bien-Aime, Jordan got up and insisted he was fine, and didn’t want help from trainers — but he did not put pressure on his leg and “eventually became emotional as the medical cart approached.”

The Texans signed Jordan to a one-year extension worth $2.1 million, with $850,000 guaranteed as he was projected to be a free agent in 2025. Throughout his 36-game career, Jordan has 53 catches for 532 yards and five touchdowns. In his absence this season, the Texans will have Dalton Schultz, Cade Stover, Dalton Keene and Luke Lachey to hold things down at tight end.
