Connecticut legislators have proposed a bill that would lower the state’s legal blood-alcohol content from .08% to .05%. Those in support of the bill said that the change would help protect people on the state’s roads.

Yesterday the former Norwich Public Utilities General Manager John Bilda was sentenced yesterday to six months in prison for his part in using company money for lavish trips. Bilda will also serve three years of supervised release and is scheduled to report to prison on July 12th.

A Ledyard woman is in critical condition after a crash on I-95 South in Groton yesterday. Officers say that 27 year old Jocelyn Green was ejected from her car near Exit 88. Further information was not immediately available as police continue to investigate the crash.

The VFW in Mystic will not hold its annual Memorial Day parade this year because the group missed the 90-day deadline to file event paperwork with the state. The VFW’s commander-elect said that the group missed the deadline due to the change in command.

The Rhode Island State Senate has approved a bill that would ensure abortion procedures are covered for all Rhode Island women. The Equality in Abortion Coverage Act would repeal the ban on abortion coverage for state employees and Medicaid recipients.

Yesterday Rhode Island lawmakers announced that more than $100 million in funding has been approved for affordable housing. The money will be used to finance affordable housing projects in 13 cities and towns.
