NBA Semifinals: Knicks beat Heat to stay alive; Warriors avoid elimination with win over Lakers

* The New York Knicks beat the visiting Miami Heat 112-103 on Wednesday night in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference semifinals at Madison Square Garden; the win sends the series back to Miami for Game 6 on Friday night. Jalen Brunson had 38 points, nine rebounds and seven assists, while RJ Barrett added 26 points, and Julius Randle had 24 for the fifth-seeded Knicks, who stayed alive in hopes of reaching the conference finals for the first time since 2000. The Heat’s Jimmy Butler had 19 points, nine assists and seven rebounds, getting held below 25 points for the first time in this postseason. Bam Adebayo added 18 points, and Duncan Robinson had 17.

Game 6 between the Knicks and Heat takes place Friday, May 12th at 7:30 pm. in Miami.

* Stephen Curry had 27 points and eight assists, and Andrew Wiggins added 25 points, seven rebounds and five assists to help the defending champion Golden State Warriors defeat the LA Lakers 121-106. The Warriors avoided elimination by beating Los Angeles in Game 5 of their Western Conference semifinals series, and forcing a Game 6. For LA, LeBron James had 25 points and nine rebounds, while Anthony Davis added 23 points and nine rebounds; Davis was removed from the game after appearing to take a hit in the head from Kevon Looney.

The Lakers and Warriors will meet in Los Angeles for Game 6 on Friday, May 12th at 10:00 pm.
